Peel Street Reconstruction Newsletter - May 2025 Second Street and Oak Street Canal - Bridge Improvements Bridge 08 (Oak Street culvert) and Bridge 09 (Second Street bridge) both convey the Oak Street Canal. The scope of the project included a review of the sidewalk collapse, complete topographic survey and required field measurements, complete detailed deck condition survey on both structures, identify options to rehabilitate both structures, fix the collapsed sidewalk on Oak Street, and other intersection improvements. Construction was completed in October 2024. This project is currently within the warranty period. The following image is a map of the project area at the intersection of Second Street and Oak Street. Second Street Infrastructure Renewal Reconstruction of Second Street (120m from Oak Street to Cedar Street) will include upgrades to the sanitary sewer and watermain as well improvements to the existing road conditions. Second Street Cross Section Design Sixth Street Reconstruction The scope of this project includes full-depth road reconstruction, including drainage improvements, sanitary sewer replacement and services to the property line, replacement of the existing 100mm diameter watermain with a new 150mm diameter distribution watermain, including fire hydrants and water services to the property line.
